Mayor Jamie Mayor said economic development in Monroe is possibly the best its ever been.
Mayo said he plans to streamline the process for businesses to get up and running. Now, the tax and revenue department is downtown, and planning and urban development is at the South City Hall Annex on Jackson Street. Mayo said he wants to consolidate those office to a more central location so new business owners can have a one-stop shop and start the process with a checklist of what has to be done. While someone might have to go to multiple locations, the goal is to make the entire process more efficient while still meeting legal standards and guidelines.
