LITTLE ROCK — Steel production has begun at Big River Steel’s $1.3 billion plant in Mississippi County, the company said Friday.
Big River Steel said in a news release that two units at its “Flex Mill” near Osceola began operating this week as part of a phased start-up that will last throughout the year. When fully operational, the plant is expected to produce 1.6 million tons of niche and specialty steels per year.
